“Tyson Bacon responds to Tennessee Vols offer.”

2026 defensive lineman Tyson Bacon (Hoover, Ala.) has received an offer from the Tennessee Volunteers, opting out of a recent visit to Volunteer Country.

The Tennessee Volunteers are among the many college teams receiving a nod to the 2026 recruiting class. One of the newer names on Tennessee's offer list is the Hoover High School defensive lineman Tyson Baconwho has visited Tennessee several times.

Bacon met with Volunteer Country to recap his offer. “It meant a lot,” Bacon told Volunteer Country. “It showed me what hard work brings you in life. During last Saturday's visit it was deeper than helmets and shoulder pads. Hugs and smiles made it feel familiar and it was an overall great experience.”

He talked to every coach at Tennessee on the defensive side of the ball. “I spoke to the entire defense team and the head coach and it went great! We talked about much more than just football. Mainly about life and its aspects. We talked about life in general and various hobbies and activities that we enjoy doing.”

He said many players stood out to him as he assessed spring training. “The defensive lineman [Emmanuel] OKSince he's fairly new to football, he'll definitely be a highly anticipated guy. Also, [Elijah Simmons] is on the defensive line; For him to be as violent and fluid as he is at this size is crazy to me.”

Tennessee has had a significant number of visiting athletes, and that number will continue to grow as the Tennessee Volunteers are just days away from their annual spring Orange & White competition. The game will be in the spotlight for many reasons, including the redshirt freshman Nico Iamaleava. It is expected that many recruits will be in attendance.
