  • The film will adapt Helen Fielding's third Bridget book.

It's been almost a decade since Helen Fielding's character Bridget Jones appeared on our screens – when we last saw the woman played by Renée Zellweger, she was happily married to Colin Firth's Mark Darcy and had given birth to her first child brought.

But even though this seemed to be the end of Bridget's story, Fielding had plans for the future even before the film was released. Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the third book based on the author's columns, came out in 2013 and shook up the character (more on that below).

Now Universal and Working Title have announced the story as the latest Bridget Jones film, with Zellweger signed on to star.
