BOLIVAR, Tenn. – A Ford dealer in Bolivar, Tennessee, picks up the pieces and assesses the costly damage after a massive hailstorm suddenly hit the city Monday afternoon.

“It lasted about five minutes,” Bolivar Ford dealership manager Cody Waddell told FOX Weather. “Blue sky; (It) didn’t warn us – it just flew in and the rest is history.”

7 things you should know about hail

Employees' video showed the parking lot being blasted into golf-ball-sized hail with torrential ping-pong.

Waddell said nearly 200 vehicles were exposed at the site and all suffered damage ranging from smashed sunroofs, taillights and headlights to countless dents and dents on the hood and frame. Some of the damage occurred to vehicles sold for between $80,000 and $100,000.

Holy salvation! WHAT CAUSES THE DIFFERENCES IN HAIL SIZE?

“It kind of shocked all of us,” Waddell said of the sudden hailstorm.

Waddell estimated that damage would be around $1 million or even more. In addition, the roof of the car dealership was damaged by the storm.

Amidst the piles of insurance documents on deck, the dealer announces that he plans to hold a “hailing sale” at some point.
