Ronda Rousey calls non-UFC legend her MMA GOAT: 'He had it all'

Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey believes Fedor Emelianenko is the greatest fighter of all time.

There are few things MMA fans love more than debating greatness. Of course, names like Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, Demetrious Johnson and more are included in the “GOAT” discussion. Even people like UFC CEO Dana White agreed, with the promoter calling “Bones” the greatest fighter of all time.

In a recent interview with TalkSport MMA, Ronda Rousey was asked to take part in the debate. The former UFC women's bantamweight champion is currently doing a press tour for her new book and recently called herself the GOAT of women's MMA. This quickly earned criticism from former rivals like Cris Cyborg.

However, when it comes to MMA in general, Ronda Rousey has to give way to Fedor Emelianenko. “The Last Emperor” finally retired from martial arts last year after a historic career. Although he never fought in the UFC, the Russian defeated several former champions such as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Frank Mir, Mark Coleman and others.

Ronda Rousey stated in the interview that she is personally a fan of Fedor Emelinanenko's sambo background. While that's one of the main reasons she likes the legend, she also praised his 2005 classic against Mirko Cro Cop. Rousey added that the fight is probably her favorite MMA fight of all time.

Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey names Fedor Emelianenko her MMA GOAT

“Except for myself?” Ronda Rousey laughed in an interview with TalkSport MMA when asked who her choice was for the greatest female fighter of all time. “For Fedor, I'm just a geek [Emelianenko] Age. I think Fedor had everything in his time. He's also related to judo and I'm a huge judo nerd. Sambo is basically Russian judo, so I have to mention it. Him vs. Cro Cop is my favorite match of all time.”

While Ronda Rousey believes Fedor Emelianenko is the GOAT, she doesn't believe he's perfect. When asked how a fight between the Russian and Jon Jones would go, the former UFC champion replied:

“Oh dude, Jon Jones wouldn’t even have to train and he’d win. This is simply the best thing about Jon Jones ever. He would get off the boat from the Bahamas and just go there and win. It's like: Damn! I’ve been training my ass off and Jon Jones just shows up and wins!”
