In one image, the message in the TikTok app reads: “Your photo posts are now showing on TikTok.”

It continues: “TikTok Notes, a new app for photo posts, is coming soon! Your existing and future public TikTok photo posts will appear on TikTok Notes.”

The message adds: “If you would prefer not to display your public TikTok photo posts in TikTok Notes, turn this off now.”

The photo features a slider that allows users to choose whether or not to share it in the new app.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

TikTok said it is working on the new app, but it is not yet available to users.

A spokesperson said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to innovating the TikTok experience, we are looking for ways to give our community the opportunity to create and share their creativity with photos and text in a dedicated area for these formats.”

TikTok's overwhelming success has forced rivals such as Instagram and YouTube to shift their focus to shorter video clips and launch rivals Reels and Shorts, respectively, to avoid losing users.

The TikTok Photos app was originally discovered from TheSpAndroid blogwhich revealed details of the yet-to-be-announced app in the code of the latest version of the TikTok app for Android.

P.A

According to the code discovered by the team at TheSpAndroid, when you post a photo on TikTok, a message about the new app appears that says: “TikTok Photos launching soon…”

Early code in the latest version of TikTok suggests that photos posted on the video-sharing platform will also be shared on TikTok Photos.

An app icon for TikTok photos on iOS and Android was also discovered hiding in the code. It uses the same color scheme as the primary TikTok app.
