Holly Holm loses: Amanda Nunes, Cris Cyborg and the former UFC champ in every career loss

Former UFC bantamweight champion, Holly Holm will face newly signed UFC star Kayla Harrison at the historic UFC 300 event. Harrison is one of the most successful female martial artists to make the transition to MMA, as she is a multiple Olympic gold medalist in judo. However, Holm has also had some success outside of the UFC.

She is a multiple division and multiple world boxing champion. With over 18 title defenses in three different weight classes, “The Preacher's Daughter” is also successful in martial arts. Although Holm has had an incredible career in martial arts, she has suffered some defeats in her professional career. Here is a list of the setbacks she has suffered in her professional fighting career.

The ups and downs of Holly Holm's UFC career

The no. The fifth-ranked UFC flyweight entered the UFC on a clean slate, debuting with a 7-0 record in UFC 184 against Raquel Pennington. She then won the UFC bantamweight title with a huge upset win over Ronda Rousey. However, right after her win against Rousey, she would suffer the first loss of her career.

The loss came against Miesha Tate at UFC 196, where she lost via a rear naked choke in the 5th round. After that, she would unfortunately suffer a defeat as she would lose to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC on FOX 20. The losing streak would continue after she lost to Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208, where Holm would get another shot at UFC gold.

However, the player would bounce back with a win against Bethe Correia, where she would get another shot at the UFC featherweight title against Cris Cyborg. Holm would lose her fight against Cyborg but win her next fight and would be up for another shot at UFC gold against Amanda Nunes.

The “GOAT” of women’s MMA would end the fight very quickly as she was finished by a devastating head kick from Amanda Nunes in the first round. Holm would win two fights but lose to Ketlen Vieira in 2022.

Did “The Preacher’s Daughter” lose outside of the UFC?

The former UFC champion had a pretty impressive boxing career before switching to MMA. But despite her great success in boxing, Holms also had to accept some losses in her career as a boxer. Holm's first loss in professional boxing came against Rita Turrisi after a massive cut that caused the fight to be abandoned in June 2004.

Holm's would break down in tears after her loss and go on to build a 23-fight winning streak. However, Sophie Mathis would put an end to the fighting as Holly Holm would be stopped by KO/TKO in the 7th round in December 2012. She would make up for the loss after a dominant performance against Mathis in their rematch.

In addition to UFC and boxing, “The Preacher's Daughter” also took part in two professional Muay Thai fights, losing one of the two fights at ROF in 2003: Triple Threat Fight Night 1 against Trisha Hill. Hill stopped Holms in round 4 of their fight.
