The race begins at 5:52 p.m. ET. The 100th edition of the Blue Grass Stakes will be broadcast on FanDuel TV and CNBC. According to cbsssports.com, morning odds are expected to include a number of three-year-old horses with poor racing history. Sierra Leone, the winner of the Risen Star Stakes, may be the favorite horse to win the race. With odds of 2:1, the mare will partner with jockey Tyler Gaffalione. If Risen Star wins the race, he will face Fierceness, this year's Florida Derby winner, in the Kentucky Derby.

With odds of 15/1 and 20/1, Top Conor and Seize the Gray respectively are expected to take the fight to Sierra Leone in today's race. Although Top Conor has no Derby points yet, his worth was proven when he won Gulfstream Park in February. On the other hand, Seize the Gray placed third in the Grade 3 Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway Park last month and already has 27 Kentucky Derby points to his name.

Dornoch, winner of the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park, also has 60 Derby points and is tipped against him at odds of 3-1. Encino (12-1) and Epic Ride (20-1) are two other stakes winners who will definitely have their eyes on a win in the Blue Grass Stakes. But even for them, the Kentucky Derby won't be an easy task.

The road to Kentucky is getting more and more intense

Over the past few months, horses, trainers and jockeys have worked extra hard to secure their spot in the Kentucky Derby. And amidst all the hustle and bustle, perhaps no other story is more poignant than the possibility of seeing Bob Baffert enter the race. Following Medina Spirit's failed drug test following the Derby win in 2021, Baffert was banned from racing.

However, Baffert has two horses entered in the Santa Anita Derby on Saturday. Additionally, one of his clients has filed a civil lawsuit seeking an injunction against the suspension decision to ensure Baffert has the chance to capture his seventh Kentucky Derby victory.
