Maryland Weather: Partly sunny and windy to start the weekend in Baltimore

BALTIMORE – Sunny skies return just in time for the weekend, but today will be seasonally cool with some stronger wind gusts. Tomorrow looks to be the brighter day of the weekend, with clouds increasing this afternoon.

Sunshine begins on Saturday, but we can expect a few more clouds this afternoon, with a few scattered showers possible. Highs will be in the upper 50s. The cold will persist due to the gusty northwest breeze with peak gusts up to 25 mph at times, particularly in the evening hours.

Saturday night

Skies will be mostly cloudy to partly cloudy overnight, with lows in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. Winds will still be somewhat breezy between 5 and 10 mph.

We should enjoy a fairly pleasant end to the weekend with sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures than Saturday in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. The northwest breezes will continue so the air will remain somewhat cool, but the wind will die down.

Sunday night

Conditions will remain dry Sunday evening, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures mostly in the upper 30s.

Next, we turn to Monday's solar eclipse forecast. Cloud cover will be the most important factor in getting a clear view of the partial solar eclipse. The forecast currently looks favorable. A high pressure area leads to dry weather and rising temperatures. We can expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout the afternoon, but clouds are not expected to be widespread or thick enough to obscure the view of the partial solar eclipse. If you plan to go outside to witness the partial solar eclipse, be sure to wear safety glasses and avoid looking directly at the sun. The solar eclipse is scheduled to begin around 2:20 p.m. in Baltimore, with the maximum at about 3:21 p.m. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 60s Monday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to drop to over 40°C by Monday evening.

Tuesday will be our warmest and nicest day with a mix of sunshine and clouds and high temperatures in the mid 70s. However, cloud cover is expected to increase throughout the day and showers are possible on Tuesday evening and overnight.

Expect wet weather with showers to return to the area Wednesday through Friday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s. Stay tuned to the First Alert weather team for the latest updates.
