EAST LANSING, Mich./KNOXVILLE, Tenn.An eventful Friday of progress between two states for Central Michigan athletics.

The Chippewas competed in the one-day Spartan Invitational on Friday, while another group competed in the opening day of the Tennessee Invitational, posting many personal bests and firsts in both events.


At Michigan State, 19 Chippewa student-athletes competed in various events.


At the field events Claire Kavanagh was 9Th in the open discus with a score of 36.45 m. Competitions in shot put, Ereka Risner made better and better shots and finished in 14th placeTh with a mark of 11.86 m, and Lynette Cipolla competed in the high jump.


On the route, Heaven Austin ran the 100 m and 200 m and took 9th placeTh and 16Th respectively.



Emma Fountain place 3approx in the 400m dash with a time of 58.87; Nicole Olivieri came in 8Th with a time of 1:00.23.



Anya Turner, Ericka Bigham, Natalie Newcombe, Elena Prescott And Jaci Rife ran the 800 m. Turner came thirdapprox and Bigham finished 7thTh overall followed by Newcombe (11th).Th), Prescott (32nd) and Rife (35Th).


The Chippewas in East Lansing ran two sections of the 1500m, unseeded and seeded. Ava Pergitone won the unseeded 800m; Lauren Hasty was 3approxfollowed by Amelia Gouin (11Th) And Cambrie Smith (17Th).


Turner and Newcombe both achieved personal bests over the set 1500m. Turner took 5Thwith a time of 4:31.99, and Newcombe was 10thTh (4:37.44). The pair was followed by Prescott (17Th), Emma Janesak (28Th), Jessie Gibbins (31st), Ambria Nagel (34Th) And Jolie Fisher (41st).



Payton Sabourin made strides for the Chippewas in Knoxville, taking 2nd placend in the 400 m hurdles with a time of 1:01.96. Behind them were the seniors Emma Francis (5Th) And Libby Munderloh (11Th).



Peyton Korytkowski And Kaitlynn Rush ran the 200 m and finished 24thTh and 39Threspectively.


In the 1500m run Maija Rettelle 23rd placeapproximmediately followed by Chesney Wilke in the 24thTh.


At the field events in Knoxville, Sarah Daniel finished 8Th in the long jump with a mark of 5.68 m.



Victoria Merrick (13Th) And Emily McLean (16Th) took part in the hammer throw.


The group completes the Tennessee Invitational on Saturday, competing in the 100m, 100m hurdles, 400m, 800m, 5000m, shot put and 4x100m relay, while the rest of the Chippewas move on to another one-day event Oakland Golden Grizzles Invite will set off.
