Sandra Oh joins Aziz Ansari's Lionsgate comedy


EXCLUSIVE: Sandra Oh (Kill Eve) was tapped for a role at Lionsgate Luckthe debut film by Master of Nothing And Parks and Recreation Star Aziz Ansari, in which he also stars alongside Seth Rogen, Keanu Reeves and Keke Palmer.

Oh's role is being kept secret, as is the film's plot. Ansari directed from his own script and co-produced with Anthony Katagas and Alan Yang, with Aniz Adam Ansari and Jonathan McCoy as executive producers. At Lionsgate, the film is being overseen by Brady Fujikawa and Jon Humphrey.

The film is the second film that Ansari wants to direct after the “Searchlight” dramedy To be mortalwhich was canceled in 2022 following complaints of inappropriate behavior from cast member Bill Murray. He previously directed his 2022 comedy special Nightclub comedian for Netflix, as well as 11 episodes of Master of Nothingthe acclaimed Netflix series he co-created with Yang.

“It's always so exciting when I get the opportunity to write a quote for a PR announcement. However, I'm pretty sure no one reads past the headline and understands my quote except someone checking it out at Lionsgate PR,” Ansari admitted in a statement to Deadline. “If you’ve actually read this far, I’m a little worried. She will next be seen in the hot HBO/A24 series The sympathizer starring recent Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr., premiering April 14.

In June she will return to her theater roots with the Atlantic Theater Company The WelkinOh is repped by UTA, Principal Entertainment LA, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
