On mobile devices, Android users have it easier and can summarize YouTube videos via the dedicated Gemini app. To do this, follow these steps:

How to use Gemini on the web to summarize YouTube videos

The web version of Gemini is pretty straightforward. After copying the URL link of the YouTube video you want to summarize, follow the steps below:

  • Go to the official Google Gemini page and log in with your desired Google account.
  • Once you land on the Gemini chat screen, click Setting gear in the bottom left corner.

  • Next, find the YouTube extension and activate itif it is turned off.

  • Go back to the chat screen, paste the copied YouTube URL into the text box and press Enter or click Send icon. Again, you can mark the extension, add additional prompts, and do the same tricks for a more precise summary.

  • This should trigger the summary and in a few seconds Gemini will break down the specific YouTube video for you.

If you do the “Gemini is not supported for this account. Message in the web version, don't worry. You probably use your work email address for Gemini. In order for Gemini to work with work addresses, the administrator of such accounts must enable Gemini support. Otherwise it won't work. So just switch to any personal Google account and it will work.
