Country singer Drew Baldridge inspired a wholesome TikTok trend with his song “She's Somebody's Daughter,” which he wrote five years ago.

Baldridge knew from the start that the song would be a hit. He wrote it “as a message to himself and a reminder that every girl is someone's friend and daughter.” However, with the onset of the pandemic, “She's Somebody's Daughter” disappeared from the music scene.

PEOPLE reported, “The pandemic hit in 2020 and Baldridge had no label and therefore no home for the song with all of its potential.” In another space and time, this would have been the end of the story of “She's Somebody's Daughter.” can. And Baldridge would have just shrugged his shoulders.”

However, since he had strong faith in God, his song eventually launched his career after going viral in 2021. He also released a music video with footage from his wedding.

“It really took our career to a whole other level,” Baldridge said of his song. “You know, I don’t have a record label at the moment. I don’t have a big team per se. Everything that has happened recently has all been organic. It happened because people love this song and that’s really so cool.”

The song is now in the Top 40 on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase charts and has over 500 million social media impressions and streams.

Many videos featuring the song feature sweet stories of parents celebrating their daughters.

“I was on my own, just doing it myself and, you know, saying some big prayers myself,” Baldridge said of his success.

The singer has not signed a contract with a record label since 2019 and has now founded his own label called Lyric Ridge Records.

“I just try to make music for people’s souls,” he said. “I try to make music that I hope God wants me to create and that has an impact. I always prayed that God would let me make music that meant something and that someone needed.”
